Maidaan is an upcoming Indian Hindi language sports drama movie based on the golden era of India Football, described from 1952 to 1962. The shooting of the movie was officially started on 19 August 2019 and the worldwide release of the movie is planned for 3 June 2022. The movie is co-produced by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Arunava Joy Sengupta, and Akash Chawla under the production of Zee Studios and Bayview Projects. The movie is directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma. The music of the movie is given by A.R.Rahman, which will be his fifth collaboration with Boney Kapoor. Maidaan is a sports genre film. The movie is based on the real-life story of Syed Abdul Rahim who is the coach and manager of the Indian National Football Team. Syed Abdul Rahim is popularly known as the Architect of Modern Indian Football. The role of Syed Abdul Rahim is played by Ajay Devgn. The other star cast of the movie includes Aryann Bhowmik playing the role of Neville D’Souza, Priyamani, Rudranil Ghosh, Nitanshi Goel. Keerthy Suresh was going to make her first Bollywood debut from the movie Maidaan but later she was replaced by Priyamani because of being too young for the role. The movie is written by Aakash Chawla, the screenplay is given by SaiwynQuadras, and dialogues are given by Ritesh Shah. The cinematography credits go to Tushar Kanti Rai.
